Common Questions About Compliance Training
Have questions about compliance training?
You're not alone. Whether you're a field agent, collections officer, credit provider staff member, or someone new to the mercantile industry, this page answers the most common questions we receive about CPD training, ASIC expectations, and the CRAG–MAP course.
These answers will help you remain compliant, confident, and prepared to fulfil your professional obligations — regardless of your experience level.
-
If you are a subcontracting mercantile agent, your training is generally treated as a business expense. This is similar to maintaining your own licence, insurance, or equipment.
Your agency usually does not cover training costs unless you've made specific arrangements with them. If you're unsure, we recommend checking with your agency contact.
-
Agencies and credit providers are ultimately responsible for ensuring their contractors and staff meet ASIC compliance obligations, adhere to service level agreements (SLAs), and uphold ethical fieldwork practices. ASIC, as the regulatory body for our sector, sets the minimum expectations to which we are all accountable.
That's why many professional agencies will request a Beebox Training certificate — to confirm that you're current with annual CPD requirements and understand your legal and ethical responsibilities under ASIC's guidelines.
Some agencies are more proactive than others. While a few may not yet request formal proof of training, this does not mean the requirement does not apply — it may reflect an internal oversight or a delayed compliance response. In practice, most credit providers expect annual training to be completed and documented when recovery activity is carried out on their behalf.
🛡️ Completing your training demonstrates more than just competence — it reflects a responsible approach to compliance, helps safeguard client reputations, and ensures you're prepared for audits and regulatory reviews.Description text goes here

Annual continuing professional development (CPD) is a key expectation under ASIC's compliance framework, particularly for those working under or on behalf of a credit provider or an Australian Credit Licence (ACL). Even for experienced professionals, regulations, policies, and industry expectations shift over time — and clients need confidence that you're staying up to date.
At Beebox Training, the annual CPD is delivered through the CRAG–MAP course, which stands for Codes, Regulations, Acts & Guidelines – Mercantile Agent Practices. This industry-recognised training program is tailored to the needs of debt collectors, recovery staff, repossession agents, process servers and agency coordinators, and credit professionals — ensuring high-quality, practical learning that aligns with regulatory expectations. Participating in the annual CPD is not just meeting a requirement. You're also aligning yourself with ASIC Regulatory Guide 206—Credit Licensing: Competence and Training and your client's internal audit and compliance frameworks. This alignment ensures your professional growth aligns with industry standards, giving you and your clients peace of mind.
📅 By treating annual CPD as part of your professional routine, you demonstrate your commitment, preparedness, and knowledge — regardless of your tenure in the industry. Remember, staying updated with the latest regulations and industry best practices is not just a requirement but a key factor in your professional success.

Yes — Beebox Training delivers an industry-recognised program designed specifically for repossessions, collections, and credit recovery professionals. While ASIC does not endorse individual training providers, our CRAG–MAP course aligns with the competency standards outlined in ASIC Regulatory Guide 206 – Credit Licensing: Competence and Training.
Our course is widely accepted by mercantile agencies, credit providers, and industry stakeholders across Australia. It’s also supported by the Institute of Mercantile Agents (IMA), reflecting our commitment to raising professional standards across the sector.
📚 Recognition stems from the course’s practical relevance and its alignment with regulatory expectations — helping participants meet real-world industry demands.

No — Beebox Training is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), for good reason. We are a specialist compliance training provider focused exclusively on the needs of the mercantile, repossession, credit recovery, and collections sectors.
RTOs are typically required when delivering nationally recognised VET courses, accessing government funding, or offering off-the-shelf training units they don’t own. Our CRAG–MAP course is independently developed, owned, and delivered by Beebox Training — designed specifically for industry professionals who need practical, ASIC-aligned training that reflects real-world job roles.
We don’t train in generic certificate programs — we focus solely on helping field agents, agency staff, debt collectors, and credit teams meet compliance and CPD obligations with training built for the job, not just the certificate.
🎯 If you’re looking for purpose-built, industry-relevant compliance training — not repackaged VET content — you’re in the right place.

Failing to complete your training by the due date can impact your compliance status — especially if you're working on behalf of a credit provider, under an ACL, or bound by client service level agreements (SLAs).
At Beebox Training, CPD certificates are valid for 12 months, and expiry dates are clearly stated. If your certificate expires, your agency or client may temporarily pause your work allocation until your training is updated.
Some agencies and credit providers also require evidence of CPD completion for audits, panel renewals, or insurance reviews — so staying current isn't just about ticking a box; it's about protecting your workflow and professional credibility.
⏰ We send automated reminders at 30, 14, 7, 1, and -1 day intervals to help you stay on track — but it's ultimately your responsibility to renew on time.
-
We provide personalised support throughout your training. If you have questions about course content, technical issues, or how a scenario applies to your role, our team is here to help — usually within one business day.
We know that many of our students are busy professionals in debt collection, repossession, or compliance roles, so we make it easy to get help when needed. Whether you need clarification on regulations, system access, or certificate delivery, we’ve got your back.
📞 Support is available by email or phone — and we always aim to respond promptly with practical answers, not canned replies.

Onboarding training is designed for people new to the industry or those returning after a period of absence. It provides a complete foundation across key compliance areas, including laws, ethical standards, and the expectations set by credit providers and regulatory bodies.
On the other hand, continuing Professional Development (CPD) is for professionals already active in the field. CPD reinforces prior knowledge, keeps you current with regulatory updates, and helps you meet obligations under guidelines like ASIC Regulatory Guide 206 and your client's service level agreements (SLAs).
Both training types use the CRAG–MAP framework, but the assessments and pacing are adjusted based on your experience level.
🎯 If you're unsure which version you need, contact us. Based on your role and history, we'll point you in the right direction.

Yes — all students receive access to the full CRAG–MAP training manual as part of their course. You can download, print, or save it for future reference.
Many agents and staff refer to the manual throughout the year to clarify grey areas, prepare for client audits, or double-check correct procedures. It’s written in plain English and designed to be practical, searchable, and aligned with real industry scenarios.
📘 Think of it as your go-to compliance guide—not just for passing the course but also for handling real-world situations with confidence.

Yes, CPD training must be renewed annually to stay compliant with industry expectations, especially if you work for or on behalf of a credit provider or significant corporate client.
Your CRAG–MAP certificate is valid for 12 months, and your expiry date is clearly displayed. Staying current helps you meet obligations under ASIC Regulatory Guide 206, maintain access to work, and avoid issues during audits or client reviews.
📅 We'll remind you well in advance — but keeping your CPD up to date is ultimately your responsibility.

Your Beebox Training certificate remains valid for 12 months from the date of completion and can usually be used across agencies or clients. This 12-month period ensures that you have a significant window to demonstrate your skills. However, ownership of the certificate depends on who funded the training.
If an agency, credit provider, or employer paid for your course, they may retain ownership of the training record—particularly if you leave before completing a period of service. Sometimes, the certificate may be withheld or require reimbursement before being transferred to a new organisation.
Beebox Training does not intervene in disputes between agencies, staff, or contractors over certificate ownership—this is a matter for the parties involved to resolve. [For example, if an employee claims to have completed a course but the employer has no record of it, or if an agency disputes the transfer of a certificate to a new employer].
🔄 If you funded your training, the certificate is yours to keep and use wherever you work for 12 months.
-
Yes — we keep a secure record of all issued certificates. Just let us know if you lose access to your CPD certificate or need another copy for a new agency, client, or audit.
We can reissue your certificate as a PDF by email, provided it’s still within the valid 12-month period from completion.
🗂️ To request a copy, simply provide us with your name, email, and completion details—we’ll handle the rest.
